A compact, easy-to-navigate airport
With over 17 million passengers in 2025, Geneva is Switzerland's 2nd busiest airport — but remains far more compact and quick to get through than most major European hubs. Expect 15 to 25 minutes between landing and exit, barring exceptional peak periods.
The terminals, explained
- Terminal 1 (T1) — the main terminal, used year-round for the vast majority of flights
- Terminal 2 (T2) — active only in winter season, for ski-related charter flights
- Terminal 3 (T3) — dedicated to business aviation and private jets
- French sector (Pier F) — lets travellers arriving from France skip Swiss customs, with quicker access to French ski resorts
Customs and passport control
Switzerland is part of the Schengen area — for intra-Schengen flights, no systematic passport check applies. For international flights (UK, US, etc.), expect standard control, generally fast thanks to numerous automated e-gates.
Parking and drop-off
The airport has several short and long-term car parks directly connected to the terminal, plus a free 10-minute drop-off zone. For a private driver, the pickup area is separate from public drop-off — DRIVETOME knows exactly where to position depending on the terminal.
Shopping and dining
Geneva Airport features a well-regarded duty-free area, notably for Swiss watches and chocolate — fitting the city's image. Fashion boutiques (Hermès, Gucci, Burberry), pharmacies, and varied dining options are available both airside and landside.
Where and how to find your driver
DRIVETOME tracks your flight in real time — your driver automatically adjusts pickup time in case of delay, at no extra cost. The usual meeting point is at the arrivals exit, with a name sign on request.
How long to reach downtown?
The airport sits just 4 km from Geneva's city centre — about 15 to 20 minutes by car depending on traffic, a real advantage compared to cities where the airport is much further out.
The 4 ways to reach downtown, at a glance
- Train — station inside the terminal, Cornavin in 7 min, ~CHF 3
- Bus — wider coverage, 20-30 min
- Taxi — metered, CHF 35-50, price known only on arrival
- Private driver — fixed price from CHF 80, convenient with luggage or groups
